Take the recorder apart. Soak all the pieces in warm, soapy water for ten minutes. Make sure to scrub the tenons before rinsing your recorder. If you have a narrow bottle brush, you can scrub the inside of the recorder. The mouthpiece can be cleared with a pipe cleaner. Rinse all pieces thoroughly and dry the recorder as much as possible. Allow the recorder to dry overnight before putting it back together.
Before you begin, find a place at home where there is plenty of light and privacy. You may use a chair or stand. If you don't have a music stand, lean the music on a dresser or another tall piece of furniture so that the music is at your eye level.
You should plan to practice for 10 minutes everyday. Remember that it is more important to practice for short periods everyday rather than one long marathon session on a weekend.
